Māori artists are embracing the ever-changing resources and technologies available and successfully adopting them as a means of cultural expression through design. Kura wishes to showcase the latest in contemporary Māori art and design created by some of Aotearoa’s most forward thinking Māori artists and designers.

The Māori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand. They arrived in New Zealand in several waves of canoe voyages between 1250 and 1300 CE. and developed a unique culture with their own language, a rich mythology, distinctive crafts and performing arts
