The Boston Jewish Film Festival returns for its 25th year with the best contemporary films exploring Jewish culture, heritage, and history. Kicking off the festival is Eliran Knoller and Avi Weissblei’s The Ceremony, a character study of an 80-year-old Israeli colonel preparing to command the national ceremony on Israel’s Independence Day. Also screening is Jews of Egypt by Amir Ramses, an engrossing, nostalgic recovered history of Jewish life in 20th-century Egypt (a panel discussion follows the film screening).
