Cambridge UK events. New ceramics and glass at Primavera. Christmas has come early for them! Enjoy Primavera wonderful new pieces, Yareah friends.

Ceramics by Peter Wills

The past couple of weeks have been a particularly busy time at Primavera, artists are sending them more of their work in preparation for the holiday season. Packages have been arriving daily and they’ve been so excited by the wonderful work that has been delivered; it’s like Christmas has come early for them!

Firstly, they have the delicate but vibrantly colored porcelain bowls by Peter Wills. The thin and light porcelain vessels are contrasted with the rich colors of the glaze he chooses, his pieces in a yellow glaze are particularly eye catching. He is continually experimenting with new glazes, to see what effects can be achieved on each piece.

James Carcass has also sent Primavera some new work in glass. A lovely mixture of scent bottles arrived this week, including some from his effervescent range, where tiny bubbles are caught in the cooling glass and remain in the finished piece. New to the collection at Primavera are a number of glass boxes with fitted lids. Some of these have fantastic toppers which resemble the domed roofs of the Taj Mahal, rendered in richly colored glass.

Ceramics by Per Hammarstom

Finally, they have their newest artist to be displayed at Primavera; Swedish ceramicist Per Hammarström. Primavera has a great array of his ceramic scent bottles, each has a quirky design, again using bright colored glaze – lovely given the current gloomy weather – and with details reminiscent of tropical ocean creatures. You won’t see any other ceramic scent bottles quite like these!
