The Notorious Putin by artist Pete Kirill

The latest painting from The Dictator Hall of Fame series by artist Pete Kirill is titled “The Notorious PUTIN”. 24″x28″ oil on art board. As you can see, this painting depicts Vladimir Putin as the deceased hip-hop icon Biggie Smalls, also referred to as “The Notorious BIG.”

This painting draws parallels between Russian politician and celebrity idolization, as Vladimir Putin lives in more lavish luxury than any western celebrity or icon.

With an Ilyushin jet with a £111.3 million cabin that includes a bathroom that has gold fittings and a £50,000 lavatory, 20 palaces, and a £26 million yacht called Sirius with whirlpool baths, a cinema and an artificial waterfall. Putin is the richest man on earth according to Bloomberg.

About Pete Kirill:

Pete Kirill was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1974. He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, with a concentration in Fine Art and Design. Kirill began a three-year collaboration with techno-timba music collective Sin Palabras based in Havana in 2000. Kirill’s immersion in a Communist environment prompted a focused visual study of infamous dictators and their cults of personality. Kirill’s first solo exhibition was held at Myra Galleries (Miami) in October 2011. In February 2013, he completed a full-scale mural entitled ‘MC Elvis’ in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, receiving widespread coverage from outlets including The Miami Herald, CBS News Miami and Yareah Magazine. Kirill lives and works in Miami.
