Selling exhibition of paintings by Georges Braque at Sotheby’s New York. From 1 – 24 October 2013. Great event, Yareah readers!
Kicking off the Impressionist & Modern sale season in New York, Sotheby’s will be holding a selling exhibition of paintings by Georges Braque, one of the great innovators of twentieth century art, featuring paintings from 1920 – 1960, held at our York Avenue galleries from 1 – 24 October 2013. The 21 works on view will include his mid- to late career pieces and represent an intensely creative, yet often overlooked, period in the artist’s career. This is particularly timely as a retrospective of the artist’s work is currently on view at the Grand Palais in Paris, the first comprehensive exhibition in nearly forty years. Georges Braque Paintings: 1920 – 1960 offers a wonderful complement to the robust line-up of selling exhibitions presented at Sotheby’s this autumn including the recent Footsteps of the Buddha during Asia Week, the upcoming Extraordinary Jewelry of Alexandre Reza and our S|2 Contemporary programming.
