Camille Pissarro and Joaquin Sorolla face to face in Spain. Review by the artist Maite Rodriguez in her weekly section on Yareah.

El Balandret by Joaquin Sorolla

This week I would like to review one of the most expected exhibitions in Spain.

Two major exhibitions devoted to Camille Pissarro and Joaquin Sorolla highlighted in the new season of exhibitions at Caixa Forum Barcelona, which also included a sample of Le Corbusier co-produced with the MoMA exhibition and Beauty captivates with small works from the Museum of Prado.

The heads of the institution Barcelona have announced today the lines of action in the coming months. You will be challenged to look beyond numbers of visitors from 2012, when, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of its opening, received 971.101 visitors, a record, with exhibits related to Mesopotamia or movie magic of Georges Méliès.

Although the season starts on the 26th September with Art fiction within Comisart cycle, it will be on the 16th October when it opens the first major exhibition of the next period a monographic Pissarro, in coproduction with the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, and Madrid has already seen far more than 125,000 people.

In the Catalan capital Barcelona it will see, until the 26th January, 2014, a total of 67 oil paintings in the interest shown by impressionist landscapes, both rural and urban.

Among the works on loan from museums and collectors around the world famous highlights a palette where the artist painted a country scene combining the colours of the rainbow.

A great exhibition that I would recommend to any passionate art lover that has the chance to visit Barcelona between now and summer 2014. Enjoy!
