Footsteps of the Buddha: Masterworks from Across the Buddhist World.
A selling exhibition that traces the historical development and transformation of Buddhist art as it traveled throughout Asia from the 2nd century through the 21st century. Overall the show carries a combined estimate of $20 million.
The Gong Fu Tie Calligraphy by the Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (1037-1101).
Su Shi is known as an author, politician, calligrapher, gastronome, pharmacologist as well as artist. His position in Chinese culture is comparable to that of the European Renaissance masters such as Leonardo da Vinci. The appearance of a piece by Su Shi at auction is a practically unheard of event; of the approximately 50 known pieces by the artist, almost all are in private hands.

American Survey Officer, a very rare and early 1969 canvas by Bhupen Khakhar.
This work is representative of a critical moment in Khakhar’s career as he developed a local and idiosyncratic language for Pop Art in India (est. $180/220,000). The Indian Art sale will also include seminal paintings by some of India’s most storied modern artists such as Ram Kumar and Francis Newton Souza.

An Exceptionally Rare Pair Of Magnificent Sancai-Glazed Pottery Horses Tang Dynasty.
These two large Tang horses of sancai-glazed pottery are modeled as a complementary pair, with differently colored coats, groomed manes and saddle blankets, but otherwise identically sculpted (est. $1/1.5 million).
