An unknown painting by Van Gogh has just been discovered in Amsterdam, ‘Sunset at Montmajour’ from 1888.
The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam has just announced this finding, which was part of a private collection. The painting will be displayed on September 24 2013 at the Dutch Museum.
Sunset at Montmajour depicts a landscape with trees and shrubs and is part of the period in which Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) painted floral works.
The finding was the result of two years of search. The director of the gallery, Axel Rüger, told reporters that “a discovery of this magnitude has never happened in the history of this museum. It’s incredible that we can still add a new painting to the work of Van Gogh.”
Have a nice day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere!
