City of Bones vs Twilight. Similarities and differences. Vampires, werewolves, and action! The Moral Instruments. Review by Isabel del Rio.

Recently, we have a new Saga on the big screen. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is the first fantasy film adaptation based on the best-selling novel City of Bones by Cassandra Clare.

Young star Lily Collins plays the role of Clary Fray, main protagonist of this film and she is happy… Clary Fray is having fun at a New York City nightclub, the Pandemonium. There, she is stunned to observe a group of teenagers with apparent supernatural abilities: Jace Wayland, Isabelle and Alec. In fact, she sees them attack a demon who had gone into the nightclub. However, she will also realizes that she is the only person able to see them…

Yes, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is a film with some similarities with Twilight Saga. The feminine protagonist is surrounded by attractive boys (Robert Sheehan as Simon and J. Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland) and we find vampires and werewolves. However, this movie is not a romantic story but an urban fantasy with action and comedy.

In spite of her youth, Lily Collins is already a famous actress. She is Phil Collins daughter and she knows the risks of the fame. Lily is well-known for her roles in the movies The Blind Side (2009), Abduction (2011), and Mirror Mirror (2012).

Now, she is proud of her role in the City of Bones Saga. She is a strong teenager, very similar to a boy, an example for new women.

Other interesting point of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is that homosexuality is treated in a very fine way, nothing emphatic. This is thanks to Cassandra Clare, a really smart author. Furthermore, the homosexual character is also a great warrior and a very heroic person.

The movie is receiving good critics. J. Campbell Bower has the most difficult role. He is a Vampire Hunter and he has been preparing for four months. A strict diet to change his appearance.

Robert Sheehan is also perfect playing a shy introvert boy.

If you have the chance, don’t miss this movie. It’s worth.

Have a nice day, Yareah friends. Art is everywhere!
