Quico Taronji (Quico Taronjí), a Spanish sailor, will cross The Mediterranean Sea alone and in a little boat: one kayak.

Spain is a land of great sailors and adventures: Columbus, Elcano, Blas de Lezo… Now, a man from Santander is ready to start a new challenge. On 26 August 2013, he will sail from Sotogrande yacht club (San Roque, Cadiz, Andalusia) with the aim of arriving to Istanbul. He will travel alone and without support ship.

** Quico Taronjí was born in Santander, Cantabria, Spain, on December 17 1970. He is a journalist (TV presenter) and yacht captain.

In 1998, Quico began his career on TV Melilla. Afterwards, he signed by Onda6 channel in Madrid and in 2002 by Canal Sur, where he began to emerge as a reporter. In the summer of 2007, he made the sailing circumnavigation of Spain, reaching more than 200 locations and traveling more than 3000 kilometers of coastline. From then, he has specialized in presenting TV programs of adventures in different important Spanish channels, including RTVE, where he mixes his two passions: journalism and challenges.
