THROUGH CEILING, BEAM, TRUSS, AND TIME from James Goertel’s bi-weekly poetry feature, Under the Same Moon, contemplates the face in the mirror.
THROUGH CEILING, BEAM, TRUSS, AND TIME
Contemplate the face,
not yours, not mine,
in a mirror where id and ego nest;
flap arms, jerk elbows, attempt to fly
through ceiling, beam, truss, and time
and into an attic holding totems from another life
beside limbless dolls staring without eyes
into broken mirrors from past lives
both mine and yours,
we still contemplate but left behind.
