Photography. How-To software workshops by Steve Buettner at TRAC (Toe River Arts Council) Burnsville NC 28714. Summer 2013 events.

Rick and Val Beck, local renowned glass artists currently exhibiting in a collaborative “Shared Journey” at the Spruce Pine TRAC Gallery, will be having a Gallery Talk on Thursday, August 1 at 4pm. This will be a free and insightful look at the work behind the artists. Come meet the two glass artists and share their journey. The exhibit continues through August 10.

TRAC is pleased to sponsor two Steve Buettner How-To software workshops. The first is A GUIDE TO ADOBE LIGHTROOM, the Incredible Adobe Program for Photographers on Saturday, July 27 from 10am-5pm. This class will present a suggested workflow for photographers using Adobe Lightroom. Special emphasis will be made on importing from the camera and organizing your images, using the various development tools from basic to more complex, and printing. The class will also touch on slideshow and web tools. Adults. $35.

Then on Saturday, August 3 from 9:30am-5:30pm, Steve will present PHOTOSHOP BASICS — a class for those who would like to start or improve their use of the software, but are daunted by the steep learning curve. This class will cover the essentials you need to use Adobe Photoshop efficiently. The principles presented should apply to all recent versions. We will describe the tools and what they do, curves, levels, working with layers and layer masks, transforming images, resizing, cloning, and the like. We’ll look at not only image adjustment and alteration, but also at cutting things out of one image and placing them in another and replacing backgrounds. Adults. $40 [includes handbook]

A laptop is not required to take either class, but if you bring yours (doesn’t matter if Mac or PC), we’ll play with your images after the presentations. Workshops will be held at the TRAC ARC, above the Spruce Pine Gallery at 269 Oak Avenue. Class sizes are limited. For more information or to register, please call 828-682-7215 or email
