Who is Batman? The Dark Knight. Best quotes. Batman is a comic book superhero, a fictional character in comic books. Batman, the Dark Knight or the World Greatest Detective, was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger in 1939. Batman first appeared in Detective Comics #27.

Batman is different to Superman or other superheros. He is not an alien or the result of a genetic mutation. He is a current person, who has employed his money and intelligence to help humanity. Maybe, this is the reason of his great success! In fact, his secret identity is Bruce Wayne, an American philanthropist playboy fighting to revenge his parents murder and thinking about the greater ideal of justice. He operates in the fictional Gotham City assisted by various supporting characters including his friend Robin, his butler Alfred Pennyworth, the police commissioner Jim Gordon and occasionally the heroine Batgirl. Batman fights against the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler, Two-Face,Ra’s al Ghul, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Catwoman, among other villains.

Adapted to radio, TV and video games, the comic books of this dark stage culminated in the acclaimed 1986 miniseries The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, as well as Batman: The Killing Joke by Alan Moore and Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. The success of Warner Bros live-action Batman have also helped to keep up people interest in the Caped Crusader.

Today, enjoy our favorite quotes:

“I made a promise on the grave of my parents that I would rid this city of the evil that took their lives. By day, I am Bruce Wayne, billionaire philanthropist. At night, criminals, a cowardly and superstitious lot, call me… Batman.”

“I believe in Jim Gordon. I believe in Harvey Dent. I believe in Gotham City.”

“If I ever see you in this city again, God help you.”

“They may be drinkers, Robin, but they’re still human beings.”

“Supergirl, you’re one of the most powerful creatures on the planet. If someone intelligent were to come after you, they wouldn’t attack you directly. They’d try to trick you. Surprise you. Remember Supergirl… only your body’s invulnerable.”

“The rain falls on murderers and madmen, the same as it does on innocent children… and it can’t stop a bullet.”

And of course…, “I’m Batman. I don’t enjoy anything.”
