Opening Reception at Bau-Xi Gallery Toronto: Saturday, July 6, 2-4 pm, artist in attendance.

Shi Le’s newest exhibition captures the natural beauty and colour of Ontario’s forest landscapes. Using generously applied paint, the artist captures the fleeting impression of light as it falls on open meadows or as it is filtered through the forest canopy. These heavily textured, intensely hued, and generously scaled paintings give the viewer the illusion of being able to walk directly into these vivid autumn scenes.

Shi Le received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Sichuan Fine Arts in China and a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo. Over the last twenty years, he has taught painting at various post-secondary institutions including Lakehead University, University of Waterloo and the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.
