Man of Steel. Henry Cavill is the heir of a jinxed role. Know the history of one of the most famous characters of all time: Superman!
Superman was born in 1932, in a comic written by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Afterwards, Superman was published in some newspapers and dramatized on radio serial. In 1941, an animated film made Superman universally known.
From then, different actors have played the role of this athletic alien with superpowers. See the list:
In 1948, Kirk Alyn starred the first Superman movie. Two years later, George Reeves (who committed suicide) got great success. In 1966, Bob Holiday was the protagonist in a musical in Broadway: It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman! The most famous has been Christopher Reeve in 1978 and the latter are Dean Cain (Superman New Adventures, 1993), Tom Welling (Smalville series, 2001), and Brandon Routh (Superman Returns, 2006).
Thus, the first actor to star the super hero was Kirk Alyn in the film Atom Man vs Superman. However, George Reeves was much more famous. Tall and handsome, nobody knew him until he played the role of Man of Steel in the modest movie Superman and the Mole-Men. Reeves kept on being Superman in TV series. He never could play another role and desperate, he committed suicide: 45 years old!
In 1978, Christopher Reeve played the most famous Man of Steel, a blockbuster that grossed $ 300 million. He starred other three Superman movies but in 1995, he was paralyzed in a riding accident.
In this moment, the legend of Superman as a jinxed role started.
Now, Henry Cavill is the last actor who joins this peculiar club of Supermen.
Man of Steel has been directed by Zack Snyder (300 and Watchmen) and produced by Christopher Nolan (Batman). Man of Steel is the great film event this summer!
Yareah magazine hopes that Henry Cavill had good luck and the hex finishes.
