A family day in the park! Anticipate the joyous arrival of summer at a multicultural outdoor event featuring musicians Dan Zanes and Elizabeth Mitchell, Native American stories read by Raven Juarez (Blackfeet) and Genesis Tuyuc (Kaqchike Maya), and hands-on activities including lawn games, planting sunflowers, and making cornhusk dragonflies. The concert will take place from 12 pm to 1pm. Food and Italian ice available for purchase, picnicking encouraged. In case of rain the event will be held in the Museum of Jewish Heritage, adjacent to the park.
Saturday, June 8 at 1 pm. Storybook reading and activity. Listen to Kiwala a conoce el mar (Kiwala Meets the Sea) by Ana Maria Pavez and Constanza Recart. Learn about the importance of llamas to the indigenous people of the Andes and make a foil llama pendant.
