In Flight

In my mind, your name

is wet tarmac and a plane

growing larger in the



I can feel you kiss me.


Your love for me is the ground

under rain-drenched wheels

that have already tested

the grey silence of the skies.


How do I tell you I love you

when you are already

in flight?



Wheels can always turn.


And yet,

they are steadfast in revolution.


A revolution that is yours,

a revolution that is you.

Even before you know it.


Sometimes the wheel is

in your mind,

sometimes it’s the rhythm to your



Most often it’s also the silenced


in someone else’s heartbeat.
