Claudia Lüthi (alias Abdelghafar) Some words on my paintings:
In 2006 I began to paint oil colour on velvet. There is a special effect on these paintings because the velvet is a „living“ material. I have to work really exact and I have to know what I do because there is not a lot of possibility for correction. The velvet absorbs a lot of oil colour so I have to put more than one coat of oil colour.
The proud lion I painted in 2012 and I was fascinated from his view and face. He is lying there relaxed just thinking: „What are you all the time looking at me, have no never seen a lion before“.
The female lion walking I painted also in 2012 at more or less the same time. This two lions could also be a couple. She has to go for work (find some food) and he can lie in the sun just like a „Pascha“. For me it is also my painting because I was born when the zodiac sign changed from lion to virgo. So I have something from both, I can be so good organised as a virgo but I can also roar like a lion.
I love colours and I love to paint with them. When I choose a subject I can’t change but the colours will be there. When I painted St. Tropez I wanted to have the details of the houses, the balcony and the windows but not in the matter to be kitschy. It should look naturally, I had to pay attention to stop in the right moment otherwise I would loose the deepness of the painting. I love this painting as much as Abu Dhabi and Moscow because it has its special character.
I love to paint also animals. For me the goal of the paintings with animals is, that they just look at the viewer when he pass the painting. Many peoble told me that my paintings are so realistic that sometimes they are not sure if the animals don’t move. I think that I can show in the paintings also a part of the soul of the animal and when I can catch it, I am really happy.
I also wanted to catch the familiar athmosphere of the situation of the grey herons family. They are up in the trees and they are a good family. They can look all over because they are high enough.
