180 Creative Camp: Canal 180’s Creative Camp dares young creative people to think big
The second edition of 180 Creative Camp, a Canal180’s original event, happens, this year, in Abrantes, from 8 to 14 july and brings to Portugal some of the most interesting international creators, with full support of Câmara Municipal de Abrantes. Special attention to Florentijn Hofman (Holland) that has been blowing the world’s mind with his big scale installation art.
In 2013, Creative Camp gathers, once again, young creative people from different artistic areas for a week of creation, urban intervention, masterclasses, workshops and talks with some of the most innovative national and international creators from areas such as cinema, music, video, architecture, advertising, installation art and urban art. All activities will be followed by Canal180’s tv channel operation. It’s a unique opportunity for you to develop your work in media arts with creators and professionals of international reference.
Mr. Thoms, UiU and Madalena Martins will join Florentijn, as well as other equally impressive creators, that will be revealed within the next couple of weeks.
Florentijn Hofman is a dutch artist, internacionally famous for his XXL instalations, that pop up from city to city. Rubber ducks, toy monkies or giant spiders shock the population, but his main goal is just to draw a smile on one’s face.
Mr. Thoms has confirmed his presence in 180 Creative Camp, as well. The italian graffito is distinguished by his trace that is both recognasible and versatile, turning him capable of adapting himself to whatever context that may appear.
From Portugal, is coming UiU UiU, a portuguese man who lives in Barcelona, who makes out of the streets his screen full of color and messages and Madalena Martins, the designer who became one of Portugal’s promises of design, through Minho’s culture.
In addition, there will also be concerts – with national and international artists, for instance, Spinifex (Holland) – and a european movie première of Kirsten Lepore’s latest movie “Move Mountain”.
This proposal of Câmara Municipal de Abrantes will allow an original animation in the city, with creative interventions and a cultural programme in ten emblematic spots of Abrantes, from the river beaches of Tejo river or the Castelo do Bode’s dam to the skate park, library’s cloister, the castel or the old fire station, in the historical centre. During a week, Abrantes will be invaded by students and young professionals from different creative and artistic areas, as well as institutional audience associated to communication, innovation and creativity agendas.
**Canal180 is the first portuguese tv channel exclusively dedicated to arts and creativity, present in several digital platforms: tv (ZON HD, Vodafone TV, Optimus Clix), mobile (iPad and iPhone) and internet (Facebook, Tumbler, Youtube, Instagram, Twitter and website).
