Woof, woof! How are you today, dear friends? Today we are going to listen a very beautiful piece of classical music. It’s the famous intermezzo of Cavalleria Rusticana, composed by Pietro Mascagni. Cavalleria Rusticana, composed in 1890, caused one of the greatest sensations in opera history and and single-handedly ushered in the Verismo movement in Italian dramatic music. Mascagni wrote fifteen operas, an operetta, several orchestral and vocal works, as well as songs and piano music. Mascagni was born in Livorno, Tuscany and he was the second son of Domenico and Emilia Mascagni
