Banksy is increasingly well-priced, no doubt, not only for his message of political and social denunciation but by the enigmatic identity of the artist.

Some days ago, on April 17 2013, the diptych of British graffiti artist Banksy, ‘Monkey Detonator’ (2002), was sold for about $208 213 000 in Urban Art auction held by the London house Bonhams.

The work, executed with spray paint on a template, was the star of an auction in which also was sold ‘Kids on Guns’ by $115,829. This features the black silhouette of two children, united by a red heart and standing on a mountain of weapons. Also, it was sold ‘Flower Chucker’ by $68,058, which shows a striker getting ready to throw a bouquet of flowers.

Definitely, all works marked prices above estimates had done the auctioneer. A great success!

** Banksy is a pseudonymous of an anonymous England-based graffiti artist, political activist and filmmaker. His hilarious street art and subversive sentences combine deep dark humor with graffiti great technique.
