Today’s Music: Alban Berg’s Sonata Op. 1 for Piano
Woof, woof, my friends. It’s Saturday and it’s time for music now. Today we will enjoy Alban Berg’s Sonata, Op.1 (1907/1909)
Alban Maria Johannes Berg was born on February 9 1885 in Vienna. He was the third of four children of Johanna and Conrad Berg. His family lived comfortably until the death of his father in 1900. Berg died in 1935. Alban Berg was a celebrated Austrian composer, member of the Second Viennese School with Arnold Schoenberg and Anton Webern, and produced compositions that combined Mahlerian Romanticism with a personal adaptation of Schoenberg’s twelve-tone technique.
We hope you all are well. Have a great day. Love, peace, happiness and… food! Woof, woof!
Music is at once the product of feeling and knowledge, for it requires from its disciples, composers and performers alike, not only talent and enthusiasm, but also that knowledge and perception which are the result of protracted study and reflection.
