When Watching a Film by Ali Znaidi

Le Voyage dans la Lune by Georges Méliès

When Watching a Film

When watching a film you agree to split

yourself into two halves: One neutral half

just watching the film w/ the naked eyes,

& another participating half that is searching

for something you had lost w/ the passage

of the years. This is what I call a neural

cinematic programming—something to

deal w/ looking back in nostalgia; &

reassembling your bygone memories &

sequences, because in any film, whatsoever,

there is something lost [A COMPLEX],

pertaining to you, that glides thru the screen

to be rekindled in your whole self. & you

roam endlessly over the events, searching

for a clue {a spackle} for your shattered

psyche—a beautiful panacea without know

–ing what it will lead to.
