Like an Ocean by Yolanda Beukes

Like an ocean you compelled emotions to

Stir within me I never knew exist.

How can I feel love, hate and pity all within me?

That once heart of stone that turned to love

That passion evoked by tender words

Melting this iron heart of isolation

Infusing it with love I knew could never last

And making wishes on stones of forever

Just till your forever could not withstand

Another day of what has been created.

Like an ocean you washed away sensation

Of reliance, integrity and devotion

How can your reply be so bare?

That once heart of stone greet me

And I am to welcome it with arms open,

But the satisfaction will not be mine

For oceans can wash away fear as well

And here I stand again waiting

Just till the waves remove the iron

Till the wind direct me to my destination.
