John Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer
John William Coltrane, also known as Trane, was born on September 23, 1926 in Hamlet, North Carolina. According to Wikipedia… “Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes in jazz and later was at the forefront of free jazz. He organized at least fifty recording sessions as a leader during his recording career, and appeared as a sideman on many other albums, notably with trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk. As his career progressed, Coltrane and his music took on an increasingly spiritual dimension. His second wife was pianist Alice Coltrane and their son Ravi Coltrane is a saxophonist. Coltrane influenced innumerable musicians, and remains one of the most significant saxophonists in jazz history. Many of his albums are considered landmarks in history of jazz, especially the spiritual A Love Supreme” (here it is the complete article)
Woof, woof, my dear friends. Here I am with a new piece of fantastic music. Because Martin believes he is my boss but he is not, I have to obey him sometimes. He asked me for a different kind of music, a special one. I have chosen a piece by John Coltrane, the great saxophonist. A different option for today but… always great music. I hope you like it.
“Part 1: Acknowledgement” was the first track on “A Love Supreme”, a jazz studio album recorded by John Coltrane’s classic quartet in December 1964 and released by Impulse! Records in February 1965.
Enjoy the day and… food and love for everyone! Woof, woof!
