Brooklyn Shows Radio Vallebona / Transmission #1 by Tilman at Minus Space until February 11. An architectural structure extending throughout the entire space of the gallery.
Art is a way, an erratic way to find an abstract Chimera. What is the Chimera like? Not easy to explain because our words and numbers only explain rational realities and artists are looking beyond the mirror.
Art is nomadic and artists travel through our Earth, country after country, and through the imagination. They are alone but they need to share experiences with other travelers. They are focus on their initiatory path but ‘initiatory path’ never means egocentrism.
For years, Tilman has been looking for an integral art, which unify painting, sculpture, architecture, crafts, talking… feelings of every kind. Then, the exhibition that Minus Space is currently presenting, until February 11, is the culmination of a great variety of aspects of Tilman studio practice, including his investigation of color, light, architectural space, and social engagement with the public.
The result is according to Tilman “an open structure, a laboratory, and an arena for reflection, discussion, and exchange”, Radio Vallebona / Transmission #1 will consist of a single site-specific architectural structure extending throughout the entire space of the gallery made of lumber, plywood, MDF, pegboard, fabric, light, and paint. The installation will also feature LCD projections of abstract and text animations, as well as an audio recording of various radio broadcasts near his remote, rural studio in northern Italy.
What do you think? Where to find more? In fact, it is an initiatory experience that everybody should have, that everybody should feel. One step more to rise our personal Chimera, the immortal Chimera that we glimpse among the shadows of our dreams and the hands of artists like Tilman.
Furthermore, for his installation, Tilman has also invited guest Belgian artist Greet Billet to create a new iteration of her ongoing project. The development of the monochrome in its digital and analogue form of apparition. Started in 2008, this project investigates the tension between the digital (objective) and analog (subjective) nature of color through projected light,
As always, Minus Space surprises us. As always, Minus Space has created a space of art. As always, Minus Space keeps on looking for the evasive Chimera.
