Anniversary Birth of Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was a famous poet, novelist and writer. If I have to choose my favorite poet, maybe I would choose Poe because his fantasy world plenty of mystery. He combines perfectly the rhythm and the technique to create his own rich world of cultural references and personal circumstances.

Of course, he is also famous because his tortured life. Well, as you know, the biographies of the deaths are sometimes not so real. I’ve read several biographies of him and every author features one episode of his life to justify his vision. Poe’s death was mysterious, of course, and it has inspired dozens of books, movies and articles. Who knows, that is the greatness of a legend and E.A. Poe is actually a living legend in the world of poetry.

For the record, my favorite work of Poe is The Raven.

Have a great day, dear Yareah friends.

It’s said that he may have been buried alive, although this may just be an inflation of the oral history about him. This was a great fear of his, and many of the time, which one reason the process of processing and embalming the corpse was developed. While he wrote stories about the horror of being buried alive, when his body was exhumed, he wa found in a different position than was previously noted, as if he himself had been buried alive. During that time, coffins for the deceased were rigged with a slot and a string attached to the body, contiuing on up into the open ground above the grave, and was then connected to a bell, so that the prematurely buried, but alive, could pull the stringand ring the bell. This is where the term “graveyard shift” came from, as a cemetary worker needed to be present in case of the undesirable early burial. ( It’s possible he may have invented this alarm himself, because it was too common an occurance that people were buried before their time, and not fully dead as a doornail.)

    • That’s the fourth theory I’ve listened. Thanks for coming, Daniel. And thanks for the comment too. All the best
