Harbin, in the north of China, is a place to visit if you wear a great coat. Enjoy its Ice and Snow World. It’s unique in the world.
The famous theme park in Harbin, at the Heilongjiang Province in the north of China, has opened again with its peculiar Snow and Ice Festival.
If you go there, you can see an awesome city of ice, full of perfect buildings which nobody can inhabit. It’s cold, really cold but spectacular.
To build these spectacular buildings have needed more than 180 cubic meters of ice and 150 thousand cubic meters of snow, but worth it.
In Manchu, Harbin means “a place for drying fishing nets”. In the past, it was a small rural settlement on the Songhua River and now, it has become one of the largest cities in Northeast China.
Harbin was founded by Russia in 1898, with the coming of the Trans-Manchurian Railway and today it is known as the Chinese Eastern Railway. Bitterly cold winters but it is famous for its beautiful ice sculptures in winter as well as its Russian legacy.
In the 1920s, the city was considered China fashion capital as new designs from Paris and Moscow reached there first before arriving in Shanghai.
In 2010 it was declared a UNESCO “City of Music”.
Artistic spirit, not doubt!
If you have the chance, visit Harbin… but of course, wear a big coat!
