Gerard Depardieu, Vladimir Putin and a crazy story of taxes. Depardieu angry with the Prosecution of France. Why? What will it happen?
Gerard Depardieu is angry with the Prosecution of France. He must pay enormous taxes because he has been described as a rich person (and French socialist government has decided to penalize rich people). Gerard Depardieu has moved to Belgium, but Belgium has some problems to give him a new nationality.
Public discussions, quarrels, debates… Suddenly and while Britain and Netherlands are thinking about the way of attracting all of the millionaires who are leaving France, Vladimir Putin has entered the scene: “If Gerard wants sincerely a Russian residence or a Russian passport, he should consider that the decision is taken and taken positively”, Putin has said during a TV press. Furthermore, Russian President has explained that he met personally Gerard Depardieu and that they have forged “friendly relations”. However, he knows that the actor “considers himself French.”
My God! What a crazy world! Of course, Gerard Depardieu considers himself French. He has been the international French face for decades. I think he is the most known French man after Napoleon. He is part of France and now, France forces him to move away and maybe… to be Russian!
I’ve never understood the hatred of millionaires by leftist governments. If they move to another country, their money moves too. Now, France is expelling their Tops and this is not good for France (nor for its economy nor for its international image). Other French actors are already solarized with Gerard Depardieu: Catherine Deneuve, Alain Delon… while Jean-Marc Ayrault continues fueling the debate about a taxation that many paople have denounced as “confiscatory”.
Among this show, the own Kremlin has said in a statement “Vladimir Putin signed a decree which granted Russian citizenship to French Gérard Depardieu.” Is this the beginning of a march of millionaires to Russia? Well, we’ll see.
