Star Wars. Obi-Wan Kenobi, a role model for next year by Isabel del Rio
First time I saw a movie of Star Wars series by George Lucas (it was Episode IV. A New Hope, 1977), I was a little girl and I was absolutely impress by Obi-Wan Kenobi character. Well, being portrayed in the original trilogy by Alec Guinness, it is not a surprise (I love this actor). Anyway, Obi-Wan Kenobi personality captivated me from the beginning and still continues being in my mind. He is a ‘border’ man, always between reality and magic, between the future and a secret past full of mysteries…, he is even between the life and the death, almost like an ancient Homer’s hero. In fact, Obi-Wan Kenobi allows Darth Vader to kill him so Luke Skywalker can live better (in Star Wars terms: with more positive force!).
Elegant, self-confident, Obi-Wan Kenobi knows telepathy and mind power. He has a very important mission: to convey his wisdom to Luke Skywalker, the son of his old friend, Anakin Skywalker, now turned into a negative warrior: Darth Vader, right-hand of Emperor of Evil.
This is the main idea of all six Star Wars movies. A struggle between good and evil and then, along with Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader), R2-D2 and C-3PO, Obi-Wan is one of only four characters to appear in all films, always trying to build a better future, once defeated evil.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is portrayed in the original trilogy by Alec Guinness and in the prequel trilogy by Ewan McGregor (another fantastic handsome actor), and is voiced by James Arnold Taylor in the film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and its spin-off TV series.
Today, we are ending the year. A year, unlucky 2012, in which good and evil have continued their struggle. Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character but, as every fictional character is based on the psycho-model of a possible personality. I wish Obi-Wan personality serves of example in 2013.
Have a nice day!
