Byam Shaw is famous for his luscious illustrations for The Garden of Kama by Laurence Hope aka Adela Florence Nicolson. The book, published in 1914 by William Heinemann, London, is a collection of love poems which were not translated from Indian literature as commonly thought, instead they were originals written by Nicolson in a time when it was difficult for a female writer to publish such texts, hence the pseudonym. My Number One

I tell you you’re beautiful every time we talk,

your outline drawn from Gods own chalk

But your beauty is way deeper than skin

It’s the girl I know that lies within

It’s completely amazing and simply breathtaking

So I remind you every single day

Your looks alone leave necks breaking

I yearn to love you in every single way.

Teach me about yourself

I believe the inner being is true wealth.

Just know when I say that you’re beautiful

It isn’t at shallow as it seems.

It’s every inch of your body and soul down to your cuticles

…The girl of my dreams.

My name is Eric Campbell. I’m a 20 year old poet and aspiring songwriter from Queens, New York but now residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Writing is my passion I’ve been writing poetry since I was 12 years old. I’ve always wanted to be a songwriter because since I was ten years old I would listen to a song and edit it to make it flow or sound better. I strive to write things people can connect with while making sure it all comes from my heart. All forms of art interest me; I try to keep an open mind and appreciate the beauty in everything.
