Charity Projects. A different art exhibition. A project for all artists and to help everyone.

Charity Projects. Exhale Unlimited Gallery, LA

The idea for this different exhibition (Charity Projects) is simple:

– Artists with a Twitter account submit an original, hand-made postcard sized (4″ x 6″) piece of art in an envelope and mail it standard first class mail to the Exhale Unlimited Gallery

– Volunteers then scan it, tweet about it, exhibit it and list it for sale

– 100% of the proceeds go towards a charity

From Saturday, January 12, 2013 (7-10pm) to February, 10, 2013, a different show ‘Twitter Art Exhibit: Los Angeles’ will be open at Exhale Unlimited (E.U.) Gallery, 953 Chung King Road, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, January 4th, 2013

Curators: Nat George and Virginia Arce.

This will be the third installment of the Twitter Art Exhibit, an open international exhibition of postcard sized hand-made art to raise money for charity. The first two shows were held in Moss, Norway, and benefited a children’s library and a women’s shelter. The L.A. show will be the first time the project goes global and will benefit Art Division, a nonprofit organization which mentors under-served youths who are passionate about the visual arts and wish to pursue careers in the fine arts field. 100% of sales from the show will go towards Art Division, everyone involved is serving on a volunteer basis and they are extremely excited about being able to showcase so many artists for a good cause.

Hundreds of local and International artists are expected to participate. E.U. Gallery owner, Anson Yew, MD, has graciously provided exhibition space.

Art Division Executive Director Dan McCleary has expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event: “Art Division is grateful and excited about the Twitter Art Exhibit. All our students will be making postcards for the event, and some will even assist the curators with installation and other gallery duties… We’re looking forward to a great show on January 12th!”

Postcard art entries will be displayed and sold on opening night through February 10th, 2013, at $35 a piece. All proceeds will benefit Art Division. This event is FREE to attend and open to the public.

Twitter Art Exhibit was founded by David Sandum, a Swedish-born artist based in Moss, Norway. Sandum heads the organizing board of Twitter Art Exhibit, teaches art privately, and is a major social media influencer in the field of Fine Arts. Twitter Art Exhibit utilizes social media and public engagement to generate income for charities and nonprofit organizations. Artists worldwide contribute postcard-sized, handmade artwork sold to the public. All proceeds are donated to charity.

Art Division is a nonprofit (501)(c)3 organization dedicated to training and supporting underserved youth in L.A.’s Rampart District, an at-risk group within one of Los Angeles’ most densely populated and underserved communities. Through focused instruction, individualized tutoring and personal support, each student is given the tools they need to pursue higher education, achieve self-sufficiency and obtain careers in the arts. The program is dedicated to community engagement and building a thriving arts community in the Rampart District.

Don’t miss this chance! Jazz up! Charity Projects are really important.
