In the coming days, 27-28 October, the artist C. W. Lubeck will exhibit at the Rock Expo 2012, Baltiska Hallen, Malmo Sweden.

It is the second annual Rockmässan, Swedish Metal Convention, in Malmo and will feature distinguished guest from the hard rock/heavy metal genre, both Swedish and international guests.

C. W. Lubeck will show his artwork The Phases of Rammstein. Yareah magazine has just published about it: Lubeck artistic challenges.

However, today I would like to speak about his painting ‘Contemporary Rulers’, maybe C. W. Lubeck ‘s painting which has impressed me most.

Lubeck is a perfect drawer, as you can see, and he is also famous by his personal colors, so nuanced and contrasted. Therefore, it is true that we can be writing and appreciating them for a while (I’ve already done). But in a time of crisis, so hard for Europe, when politicians bring more questions in their bags than solutions, and when they are accused of corruption and personal enrichment at the expenses of citizens, the ironic portrait of a fat pig with the pose of Napoleon is in my mind, strongly attached.

‘Contemporary Rulers’ is the fantastic portrait of an international psycho-type. Giant, enormous, the ambition of a person grows. Perhaps years ago this person was only a law student who wanted to have a girlfriend and a job, perhaps he even wanted to help others, perhaps… The reality has been different.

What does it happen when someone enters in politics? I have seen them on TV, they change. Pride and arrogance begins to reflect in their eyes (two black wells in Lubeck ‘s painting) and they have a forced smile. Are they laughing at us? Afterwards, George Orwell ‘s Farm comes alive. Some dictator will be the donkey, some finance minister, the snake…, international bankers are the weasels and so on. Anyway, the majority of them seem pigs, lustrous pigs of shiny faces that just come from a facial.

‘Contemporary Rulers’ by C. W. Lubeck is an icon, a new icon of an artist who analyzes our current mankind and meanings and compares us with other times. He has absorbed Dadaism, Expressionism and Surrealism, and also Abject art, he loves current music and metal groups but he is much more, because C. W. Lubeck is creating a new iconography, the iconography of a world that needs a change, maybe his sweet colors are the hope of this change. Artists are our last true.

Congratulations, Carl!
