Lady Gaga: Tacky provocation or great glamorous style? What is she looking for?
Lady Gaga, a dancer who was destined to be a girl choir more, is now an icon for the new generations and she has started to be recognized worldwide for her creative approach to the audiences, her exciting performances, her influence on mass behavior and, above all, on fashion style.
Although, she learned to play the piano and gained admission to the prestigious New York University’s Tish School of the Arts, she never graduated and disappointing her father, she started hanging out in the Lower East Side of NY, appearing in burlesque shows at dive bars where Drag Queens and Go Go dancers were the stars.
Clever, because maybe the point of Lady Gaga, the point she has ever hidden, it’s that she was really clever to understand how she must drive her public way as a famous personage. Clever, I repeat, she started to write Pop songs for Pussycat Dolls and consequently, to dress as a Neo-pop girl mixing some small details of the Belle Epoque (feathers and sequins of her beloved Drag Queens), which Gothic groups also like.
Akon recognized Lady Gaga vocal gift, and signed her a contract. Then, he started to work on her debut album and she released The Fame in 2008 which is about how anyone can feel famous. Her first single Just Dance (nominated for a Grammy) was an international success.
More resources, more money, the clever girl understood the importance of internet and she is permanently online transforming one thousand and one times her image. Her previously brunette hair was quickly blond and afterwards, pink, blue, green… her Drag Queen fashion style was now absolutely creative and she could dress as a bubble or as a lobster or as a Rococo countess.
Thus, easy tacky provocation is now sophistication and in fact, Lady Gaga has been even portrait by Mario Testino.
Today, everybody loves her and now, once again, she is trying turning her look.
In May 2013, the sophisticated novel ‘The Great Gatsby’ by F. Scott Fitzgerald will be the plot for a new movie directed by Baz Lurhmann and starring by Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. Of course, Lady Gaga wants to be there while her fashion style is moving from Madonna to Audrey Hepburn and her glamorous high buns and spectacular hats.
‘Some pretty huge artists have approached Baz (Lurhmann) and are writing songs for the film, and I don’t think Warner Bros are going to turn down Prince and Lady Gaga knocking down your door.’ The actress Adelaide Clemens said the other day referring to the next controversial The Great Gatsby movie. ‘They have some new music that’s going to be added to the film,’ Clemens kept on, ‘I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that.’ The rumor had started and nobody can stop it now.
I’m sure Lady Gaga wants to be part of this new film where Prada is going to provide the costumes and Tiffany & Co. the jewelry. Soon, Lady Gaga will be the most glamorous lady of the Earth.
