Joe Biden and Paul Ryan will combat face to face tonight but, we are sorry for it, we will propose you another vice-presidential combat for today: Brandon Cronenberg versus Jennifer Lynch
If you find something more than a reasonable similarity between David Lynch and David Cronenberg –and we can find many similar things- now, we can have another similar thing which could make smile to these fantastic filmmakers: those have special children, those children make special and strange movies, and those children have presented their films in the Stiges Festival.
First, Jenifer Lynch. Her film Chained is a film, in words of its own director, of ‘how to create a monster’. Vicent D’Onofrio is a taxi driver that rapes women to kill them. One of these victims has a 9 years old son and the executioner will forgive his live becoming his slave. His surname will be ‘Rabitt’. This is the beginning of a disturbing film, an attractive film about the dark side of the human soul.
Antiviral is the last Brandon Cronenberg film, a futuristic world where the celebrities fanaticism is out of control. It’s a world where everybody wants the last virus of the last celebrity of fashion, a world where you can enjoy a steak with the cells of your favorite celebrity.
We can see in both directors the secure hand of their fathers. I have my preferences, of course, but I invite you today, in this very political day, to enter in this debate, maybe less important or maybe less decisive than the Joe Biden and Paul Ryan one but… at least, you can spend four hours watching the darkest side of the wind (yes, if you are able of watching at two politicians during two hours, you can watch it too).
Let’s take a minute to watch the trailers. First, Antiviral:
And now, Jennifer Lynch’s Chained:
Have a nice day!
