Cryptogram, a new poem by S.Hennigan

lions and mountains landing on hearts

topography of loss, satellite imagery of the soul

GIS places, spaces to be understood

the carto-graphic of where we are going

broken glass made into diamond rings

handed over in anti-dérive days

freezing until we are warm poetry,

landscape that belongs to no one

but is all we need to share there-ness

when we are here dancing-periphery

nomads in this city scape of ugly beauty,

at the same time we are a big man forever

in the land of architecture’s grey glow,

somewhere in between there is a tent

and water, we just have

to choose where, when,

how to use the words

we use

S. Hennigan is a poet, painter and writer, living in Paris. She likes eavesdropping, running and travel. She enjoys writing postcards, letters and ridiculously long text messages. She is investing in time banks and studying Italian. She is now learning how to enjoy raw foods, ballroom dancing, sitting still, and people who don't like poetry. She would like to make more cognitive leaps before her knees give out.

Lions painted in the Chauvet Cave. This is a replica of the painting from the Brno museum Anthropos. The absence of the mane sometimes leads to these paintings being described as portraits of lionesses. Source: Wikipedia. Author: HTO - Own work (own photo)
